Finding Acceptance: Understanding ACT Therapy

At Wise Mind Therapy, I believe in using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as a powerful tool for helping my clients live a more fulfilling life. ACT is a form of therapy that focuses on helping individuals accept the things they cannot change, and commit to taking action towards values-based goals.

ACT isn’t about trying to eliminate difficult thoughts or feelings, but rather learning to relate to them in a different way. It’s about learning to focus on what’s most important in life, and taking action towards it, despite any internal struggle.

Mindfulness for a More Fulfilling Life

One of the core principles of ACT is mindfulness, which involves paying attention to the present moment with openness and curiosity. Through mindfulness practices, I help my clients become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations. This increased awareness allows them to make more conscious choices, rather than being controlled by automatic reactions.

I also use ACT techniques such as defusion, which helps clients disentangle themselves from unhelpful thoughts, and cognitive restructuring, which helps them challenge and change unhelpful beliefs.

Beyond Symptom Management: Living a Meaningful Life

ACT has been shown to be effective in treating a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. But it’s not just about treating symptoms – it’s about helping individuals live a more meaningful, authentic life.

If you’re ready to make a change in your life, and learn to live with more purpose and acceptance, I invite you to explore ACT at Wise Mind Therapy.

Only you can decide if therapy is the right choice for you, but often people seek therapy when they’re feeling stuck or experiencing emotional pain. It’s a brave step towards self-discovery and growth. Trust your gut, and remember that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Therapy is an investment in yourself, and it’s important to make sure it’s accessible and affordable for you. Ulises’ hourly rate is $200 and he provides a superbill for insurance reimbursement. Let’s have a conversation about what works best for you and your budget, because taking care of your mental health is priceless.

During your first session with me, expect to be heard and understood. I’ll ask you some questions to get to know you better and what brings you to therapy. We’ll discuss your goals for therapy and work together to create a plan for our time together. It’s important to me that you feel comfortable and supported from the very first session, so I’ll be there to answer any questions you may have. And remember, the most important thing is for you to feel seen, heard, and understood.

Scheduling an appointment with me is simple, just give me a call or send an email to set up a time that works for you. I’m here to support you and help you work through whatever challenges you may be facing, so don’t hesitate to reach out. Let’s get started!
